What is this Blog about?

Customer Support or Call Centers is something we Indians are quite new to. This Blog was started after I had some real weird experiences with a particular call center of the company which manages my domains…

So, if you have your own call center experiences to share, you know where to put them online for us to read! Contact me… ;)

Net4Domains and User Passwords

If you are like most people around here in India who have got their domains registered at Net4Domains, it is time to fix that password of the backend to something stupid. Otherwise, you just might be shocked the next time you call the call center.

Why?

Coz, today I came to know that the customer support people have easy access to the passwords. I got myself a new account at Net4Domains. And when the password did not work, I called the call center of the company.

One of the biggest shocking moments of my life. The dude asked me if I indeed entered the password ******* in proper case. Yeah, he told me what my password was like it was nothing out of the ordinary!

I was absolutely shocked, amazed and well angry. However, ignored the displeasure at that moment and said yeah, it was my password and it is not working. Later, he told me to send them a mail at their customer support id with the login and PASSWORD details! This was to lodge an official complaint, as he could not take that on the phone. And he wanted me to send the login id along with the PASSWORD in that mail to the company…

What the hell… he just delivered me my password on phone without asking for any verification if I indeed was the individual who owned that account. I wish I knew what I could have done to stop this nonsense…

A great joke one of my friends made after reading this stuff…

Next time you call their call center, you are addressed like… so dude how’s xyz (your girlfriend’s name). Reason being, that is one of the most common passwords dudes keep in my opinion.
